penpals.txt
One of my main hobbies is snail mail and writing to my penpals.
I was introduced to penpaling in 2023 by a few of my online friends, and I've been hooked ever since! I love that it forces me to slow down, pause, and reflect on things. It lets me send little trinkets, stickers, photos, and other goodies to my friends across the world.
On this page, I'll be posting photos of letters I'm particularly happy with, and explain how I write my letters. Maybe it'll serve as inspiration, if you're also interested in letter-writing.
Here's my first letter to a new penpal! I put some extra effort into this one to show off... Usually my letters aren't quite this fancy!
Along with the letter, I included a bigger sticker, an envelope of smaller stickers, a little coded message, and an instant photograph of somewhere I visited lately.
I get my stationery from a few different places. My letter paper, envelopes, and washi tapes are usually either from WashiGang (an online stationery store in Australia) or Daiso (100-yen shops). Unfortunately, I don't live in the city so the nearest Daiso is more than 8 hours away, and they don't have an online shop... So I stock up on lots of stationery every time I visit the city, and make it last as long as possible. ^_^
My favourite pen is a Pilot Kakuno (which you can see in the photo above), a budget fountain pen meant for beginners and kids. But it's still a really great fountain pen and it writes really smoothly! I even prefer it over my fancier and more expensive fountain pens. Plus it's super cute - there's a different smiley face engraved on every nib!
